An awesome tourist destination awaits you!!
Pristine beaches, Arabian Dhows, colorful bazaars, a mystifying network of narrow alleyways Zanzibar evokes images of mystery and romance.
The first time I stepped onto Zanzibar was in the early seventies (70’s).
Recall as a primary school student going on a family weekend holiday to Zanzibar and watching the World Cup in black and white at the Zanzibar Hotel, this must have been around 1974, Germany versus Holland, strolled the waterfront along Africa House with a picnic lunch.
There was only a hand full of hotels in the Stone Town back then, let alone on the beaches.
A few Italians were already at this early stage on the island as I can recall.
Locals were upset if one took a daladala in those days, if you we a Mzungu you should afford to take a taxi was their way of reasoning, how much has changed since than.
